Key Club is the oldest and largest community service club for high school students in the United States. It is a student-led club that promotes leadership through helping others within the community.
The club meets in A228 at 7:30 on the first and third Thursday of every month to update members, plan service projects, gather resources, foster leadership, and share successes.
The benefits of joining Key Club include helping others within your community, accumulating community service hours that can be used for college and job applications (as well as Honor Society), meeting new people, fostering meaningful relationships, and cultivating leadership and organizational skills. There is also an opportunity to attend the District Convention (DCON) in Seattle or Portland for a weekend in March to meet other Key Clubbers in our region.
Our projects have included the Second Harvest Green Bluff Apple Harvest, Vanessa Behan Diaper Drive, Spokane Valley Partners Food Bank activities, assisting with district elementary and middle school activities (carnivals, fun runs, auctions, BBQs), Wishing Star wish granting, Highway, Centennial Trail, Dishman Hills, and University High School Clean Ups, Spokane Valley Parks and Recreation activities and myriad other community-minded endeavors. Members pay $12 per year to cover dues for local, state, and international membership. These dues also cover insurance during service activities and a Key Club lanyard and ID card. New members are always welcome!
