ABOUT THE COACH

Kara Sharpe
I have been a Special Education teacher at U-High since 2010. I have also been the head girls soccer coach at University High School since 2018. Prior to that, I spent eight years coaching for the Spokane Sounders (formerly Shadow), coaching teams ranging in ages from U12-U18. Additionally, I coached for the Spokane Soccer Academy for nine years, working with boys and girls of all ages. I have had the unique opportunity to coach a number of highly successful club and high school teams and players, many of who have gone on to play Division I, II, III & NAIA soccer. While coaching the girls at U-High, I have coached two GSL MVPs, made it to GSL playoffs five of those years and went to the state tournament one of those years. Two of the players I coached in club with the Sounders had successful careers playing professional soccer in the NWSL.

I grew up in Spokane and attended University High School, where I was a four year starter and a three-time 1st team-All-GSL player. After high school, I played Division I college soccer at Washington State University from 2001-2005. During that time, WSU qualified for the NCAA tournament twice.
